I definitely need to plan a trip to D.C. to see Jim Henson’s Fantastic World
Thanks to a tip from Popbytes, I found out that now through October 5th, Smithsonian’s International Gallery is showing Jim Henson’s Fantastic World— an exhibit documenting “Henson’s process of ‘visual thinking’ through works of art, photographs, documents, puppets and other 3-D objects, and film and video clips.”
The traveling exhibition will hit a bunch of other U.S. cities over the next few years, too, but not NYC (check the tour schedule for more info). RUDE. I guess I will be planning a trip to D.C. in September.
My first thought was my 2 year-old niece— being a huge Sesame Street fan— might be into it. But then I realized she’s probably too young to understand why her BFFs are stuck behind a glass case. I don’t want her thinking Ernie’s dead.
Man, I am awfully excited about this. You probably are too. For more information, check out the Smithsonian exhibit’s infopage or the Jim Henson’s Fantastic World site.
