My Pal Ray offered to guest blog about the Breeders show, and all I got was this video clip from The State

Thanks to our coolest, most hooked-up friend, us kids got to skip the crazy-long line to be VIPs at the Breeders pool party show yesterday! And, like total amateurs, that is pretty much all we talked about the rest of the afternoon.

I spent 20 minutes of the Breeders set in line for the VIP toilet. There wasn’t a wait for the “regular people” porta-potties at the other end of the pool, but at that point I was staunchly against associating with lower-class folk. I thought the VIP facilities would be cleaner or shinier or perhaps gold-plated, but they weren’t— just a longer line for one single toilet & no view of the stage during “Cannonball.” This is an example of how rising social status can get to your head and make you do illogical things. I understand Lindsey Lohan a lot better now because of yesterday.

Anyway, I got very excited after the show when My Pal Ray offered to guest blog about the experience! Longtime readers may recall I’ve been trying to make this guest appearance happen for some time now. So I was like, “Ray, that would be off the hook,” which is VIP-speak for “really cool.” I was so happy that I might’ve even dreamt about it last night, but I can’t remember for sure. If I did, it was definitely one of those happy/cartoony dreams in vivid color.

But then this morning, all I get from Ray is permission to post this video from The State that uses “Cannonball” as its soundtrack. Like he holds the copyright or something. Sometimes I swear to god I hate My Pal Ray even more than huge terrible things like racism, injustice, long lines, and war. Luckily it’s a pretty funny video, though.
