“Should I Stop Blogging?”

Darren Rowse at ProBlogger recently posted a set of 20 questions for bloggers to evaluate their sites and decide whether or not it’s time to close up shop.

Oh my god, I thought when I saw this. Is it time for me to shut up? Am I setting and meeting productive goals?? Am I doing an awesome job??? Obviously I needed to answer some of these questions and find out.

Am I interested in the topic?
Brooklyn: yes
Pop Culture: check
Nonsense: MOST

What goals do I have for this blog? Are they being met?
GOAL: to be declared possibly the coolest girl in Brooklyn.
GOAL REACHED: March 6, 2008.

Am I getting personal satisfaction from posting?
I found my “Totally Gratuitous Peter Sarsgaard Hot Photo Post” Parts One, Two, and Three to be very personally satisfying.

Is anyone reading my blog?
Joanna promises to click over once for every time that I mention her.

Do I still see myself writing on this blog in 18 months’ time?
If things haven’t changed much for me over 10 years, I doubt they’ll change dramatically in 18 months.

Is the blog giving energy to or taking energy away from me?

Do I have anything original and useful to say on my topic?
I went over my 100+ posts and found 5 useful ones:
1. Best NYC brunch spots
2. Directory of NYC Museum free/pay-what-you-wish days
3. Historic recipe for homemade PB cups!
4. Acai wins, Lemon-Lime Lite loses — in Joanna and I’s Emergen-C taste test challenge
5. Let Smoove B show you how to talk to a lady

If readers are commenting, what are they saying?
Grow up.”

Is the blog earning anything?
Since October 07, I have earned precisely $16.83 via Adsense. Sooo YES.

What else could I do with the time that I spend on this blog?
— Learn self defense, last-resort style
Dance around my apartment building with a boom box for several hours
— Film a really shitty sequel to Donnie Darko
— Play the “Oh, Hello” Opening Credits Game

What would the impact be of me not blogging?

VERDICT: I must never ever stop blogging!!!!!!
