Top 5 tattooed rockers — Guest blog by Ryan

Editor’s note: If we could take a creepy peek at my buddy Ryan’s heart, I’m sure it’d be covered in tattoos and beating a rock-n-roll jam. Check out his reggae-infused rock band Vanilla Sativa when they perform at Trash Bar at 9pm this Sunday.

Since I was a little boy, I’ve been a music and tattoo fanatic — two interests that often go hand-in-hand, and have for me personally as well. Listed below are some of my favorite musician/tattoo collectors — ranging from to the fully covered, to just a sprinkled few — all of which I feel fit just right on the particular rocker.

5. Carey Hart
A rocker at heart, this MotorCross superstar and tattoo shop owner holds nothing back. He is fully covered in sleeves as well as tattoos on his hands, chest, and back. Hart has an entire arm dedicated to the city he was raised in — Las Vegas — with a roulette wheel on his elbow and images in dedication to the Luxor and other casinos.

4. Mike Ness
Most famous for his band Social Distortion, this Californian rockabilly king is covered from head to toe with classic cars and motorcycles.

3. Travis Barker
The Blink-182 drummer and clothing designer collects cadillacs and is covered almost completely with art from world-famous tattoo artist Mr. Cartoon.

2. Tommy Lee
Though some would debate what this man is most famous for, between his rock-and-roll debauchery with Motley Crue and his sex tape with ex-wife Pamela Anderson. Either way, this icon boasts some cool tatts on his arms, stomach, back, and face.

1. Rancid
Last but not least, these four punk rockers hold the honor of being my favorite fully-covered band. Guitarist Lars Fredrickson has the most with two full sleeves, face tattoos, and his hands and torso covered.
