Ready? OK! for PIMA Group’s pep rally Saturday
This Saturday, March 29, Philadelphia’s PIMA Group will perform an After-Hours Pep Rally at Like the Spice, concurrent with the gallery’s Rachel Beach and Nora Herting exhibit (which shows through March 30). My good friend & favorite booty-shaker Jaime Potts — who’s performed with PIMA for a year — shed some light on what people can look forward to from this non-traditional dance performance.
What can people expect on Saturday?
Potts: This is a spunky little piece inspired by the Bangkok Cheerleading Squad and the current exhibit at the gallery. You can expect a little Olivia Newton John mixed with French electronica, strobe lights, disco ball, and some sweet dance moves!
What’s the PIMA group all about?
Potts: The PIMA Group is a non-profit dance and music company based in Philadelphia that performs innovative live music and dance, ranging from improvisational performance art work to more formal choreographed and composed pieces. It was founded in 2001 by choreographer Melisa Putz and musicians Michael Barker and Thomas Clark. I have been involved with PIMA for just about a year now and this is my third project with them.
