The “Oh, Hello” Opening Credits Game

Me & my college buddy Brendan invented the “Oh, Hello” Opening Credits Game our freshman year to amuse ourselves while waiting for a dorm floor meeting. It’s a fun way to pass time with zero resources at your disposal, as all it requires is your ability to creatively act like a big silly asshole.

The objective is to come up with & perform an original and hilarious “Oh, hello” moment often seen in comedic sitcoms’ opening credits. Check out this example from Small Wonder (a.k.a. “that 80’s show with the robot girl”).

See how Dick Christie is all, “Oh, hello! I was so enthralled with this newspaper that I did not see you there!” And Vicki the Robot — who we’ve apparently interrupted just zoning out into the fireplace — adds a frightening wink for effect.

Another opening credit sequence that’s chock full of cheesy “Oh, hello” examples can be found in e’rybody’s favorite sitcom, Full House.

Yes, hello, Lori Loughlin! What were you checkin with those sweet binoculars?? She is the obvious winner in this round of the game. But you can learn a lot from gay dad Bob Saget mountain-climbing home with the groceries; Dave Coulier about to squint his roller-blading ass all the way to the pavement; and soon-to-be meth fiend Jodie Sweetin just a-strollin’ on the beach (one of the more romantic interpretations of the “Oh, Hello” game).

We never really called winner, but the further you go, the better. Brendan kicked some ass one time with his “newscaster with a broken neck sitting in a swivel chair” performance. Remember the key is to be caught off-guard and then pleasantly SURPRISED!
