Noah the Whale — story I wrote when I was 10!
While home for the holidays, I rummaged through my old packed-away belongings and came across a fat packet of stories I wrote when I was 10. Most end with a ridiculous moral lesson, leading me to believe that I might have been the most annoyingly self-righteous 10 year old ever.
Here’s a real gem, entitled “Noah the Whale” — my gift to you this joyous Christmas Day. You might want to keep this tale in mind whilst gorging on Christmas dinner.
NOAH THE WHALE, written April 3, 1992
Once there was a whale name Noah. He lived in the Pacific ocean. Noah was big and fat and was very greedy. He always grabbed everyone else’s food and ate it. The other whales didn’t like this, but were too shy to speak up. But one day…
Noah was swimming around in the ocean, laughing at the very tiny whales. Then he sighted a big school of fish and he ran to gobble it up. Next he saw three dolphins and he ran to gobble them up. He found lots of other food all day long, and became much fatter than usual. Then when it was lunchtime he ate some of the other whale’s food, too.
Later on in the day, the whales all got together and held a swimming race. Noah entered the race, too. When a whale said, “Ready, set, go!” all the whales took off. All the whales except Noah. He couldn’t move. He was so fat because of all the food he had eaten that day!
Noah tried and tried again to swim up to all the others but he couldn’t. Then all of a sudden he got so sick to the stomach that he vomited all he had eaten that day! All the others laughed at Noah and he had learned his lesson!
MORAL: Don’t be greedy. Because if you are, you will receive your payback soon enough.
The End
