The Farnsworth Invention on Broadway

The other night I had the opportunity to see Aaron Sorkin’s The Farnsworth Invention on Broadway and really enjoyed it.
The play tells the story of Philo Farnsworth, a boy genius from Utah who, at 22, invented television only to become involved in an all-or-nothing battle with David Sarnoff, the young president of RCA and America’s first communications mogul. Without giving away any more than that, I’ll just say it’s a tense and very human story devoid of any sort of happy ending.
I was genuinely wowwed by the two lead actors, Jimmi Simpson as Farnsworth and Hank Azaria as Sarnoff. Their roles demanded a lot of intensity, and they each totally brought it. With the exception of the first five minutes when I thought “Moe from The Simpsons!” everytime Azaria spoke, I felt super engaged and impressed from start to finish.
